On March 30, 2022, a 5G cloud + remote real-time ultrasonic consultation was conducted at the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou ("Sun Yat-sen First Hospital") over a distance of more than 700 kilometers. Sonographer at the Sun Yat-sen First Hospital performed remote real-time diagnosis for a patient with tumor in the First Hospital of Sanming City, Fujian Province ("Sanming First Hospital").
This remote consultation is to provide regular and high-level remote ultrasonic medical services for Sanming citizens through remote ultrasonic consultation system, remote training and case study after the official opening of Sanming First Hospital Remote Ultrasonic Medical Center supported by Zhongshan First Hospital.
MGI robotic ultrasound system, MGIUS-R3, integrates remote scanning, remote parameter adjustment and remote real-time communication and will play an integral role in supporting sonographers in Guangzhou to perform remote real time scanning and diagnosis for patients 100 kilometers away in the Remote Ultrasonic Medical Center of Zhongshan First Hospital. The use of the remote ultrasound system also helps distribute high-quality medical resources and regular ultrasonic examination services to Sanming First Hospital via 5G network.
The cooperation between Sun Yat-sen First Hospital and Sanming First Hospital is a miniature of distributing high-quality medical resources to aid resource-constrained areas in recent years. Through ultrasonic robotic technology and 5G network, experts can directly participate in the treatment and diagnosis of difficult and complicated diseases for patient in remote areas to help solve the shortage of medical resources.
MGI's remote ultrasound robot is the world's first ultrasonic device that can achieve "remote real-time diagnosis" without the need for a physician to be at the same location as the patient. The product combines robotic technology, remote real-time control system and high-resolution ultrasound imaging to overcome the distance limitations of traditional ultrasound diagnostic methods. It has been applied in 16 provinces, cities and autonomous regions, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong and Zhejiang, to provide more high-quality services to patients, especially for those areas with scarce medical resources.
MGI is committed to developing and promoting advanced life science tools for future healthcare and making high-quality medical services within reach to benefit the health of all people.
