Empowering Global Healthcare Innovation, MGI Showcases Remote Robotic Ultrasound System at European Congress of Radiology 2022

Release date:2022-07-18Writer:MGIViews:2999Share

On July 13-17, 2022, the European Congress of Radiology (ECR 2022), the second largest radiological meeting in the world, was held at the Austria Center, Vienna.

At the 5-day congress, 235 exhibitors from 31 countries demonstrated state-of-the-art medical devices and cutting-edge research results. The meeting was of great significantly to showcase the latest developments in radiology and fulfill people's healthcare needs

MGI imabot, a subsidiary of MGI, presented its stunning robotic ultrasound system MGIUS-R3 at ECR 2022 to display the key progress of innovation from China's telemedicine technology on the global stage.

Modernising Telemedicine Practice to Meet Healthcare Needs

With the wider use of cutting-edge medical technologies globally, innovative practice in telemedicine has become a hot topic in global healthcare community. Despite a late start, remote clinical services in China have been growing rapidly amid COVID-19 as the country addresses challenges in allocating medical resources to remote regions. A landscape of telemedicine has begun to take shape in China.

On the first day of the congress, broad application prospects of the robotic ultrasound system have gained attention from many medical equipment manufacturers and experts. As one of MGI's key healthcare projects, this remote robotic ultrasound system is the world's first ultrasonic device equipped with multiple sensitive ultrasound probes on its robotic arm that can be operated by a sonographer to conduct remote real-time diagnosis for patients. It plays a leading role in advancing independent research and development of ultrasonic equipment in China.

Independent Research and Development and MGI's Proprietary Core Technologies

The remote robotic ultrasound system integrates robotics, real-time remote control, ultrasound imaging, and other technologies, with a people-centric approach in multiple aspects to advance innovative applications.

In order to synchronously reproduce the expert's scanning technique and skill with precision remote control, the device is equipped with a six-axis collaborative robotic arm to align with the expert's scanning postures. The profiling probe collects 3D motion postures of the expert's scanning actions and synchronizes them on the robotic arm. To improve care for patients receiving remote ultrasound examinations, MGI imabot has also invented a flexible interactive algorithm, so that the probe can adaptively adjust the scanning route and intensity based on the patient's body curve, thereby providing the patient with the best possible experience.

Creating Innovative Applications and Exploring More Breakthroughs

The outstanding performance of the remote robotic ultrasound system in the field of 5G remote screening and diagnosis has been widely recognized by experts in China and internationally. To effectively address the pain points of the ultrasound industry, the remote robotic ultrasound system has proven outstanding performance in supporting 5G medical alliances and other smart healthcare projects, such as promoting large-scale screening for early diagnosis at primary care level, preventing major outbreaks, and reducing infection risks. The excellent technical advantages of the system facilitate the interconnection of medical resources in hospitals at all levels, while enabling high-quality medical care to cover more areas to foster a resourceful national diagnosis and treatment landscape.

The debut of the robotic ultrasound system at ECR 2022 not only demonstrated the broad prospects of remote ultrasound technology on the global stage, but also showcased China's great progress in telemedicine technology and innovation. In the future, MGI will continue to seek new breakthroughs in ultrasound imaging, optimize innovative ultrasound equipment, reshape the telemedicine landscape with remote ultrasound innovation, and contribute to improving the distribution of medical resources.
