MGI's Innovative Platforms Contribute to Safeguarding Jiangsu Province

Release date:2021-07-26Writer:MGIViews:362Share

NANJING, CHINA, July 23, 2021 -- In response to the COVID-19 outbreak at Nanjing Lukou International Airport, MGI urgently delivered three powerful instruments, including MGISTP-7000 high-throughput automated sample transfer processing system, MGISP-960 high-throughput automated sample preparation system and MGISP-NE384 high-throughput automated nucleic acid extractor to support the pandemic control and prevention in Jiangsu Province.

On July 25, Nanjin started its second round of city-wide nucleic acid testing for COVID-19. Powered by MGISP-NE384, MGISP-960 and MGISTP-7000, the Huo-Yan Lab will further scale up the testing capacity to support the outbreak control in Jiangsu.

On the Early Morning of July 25, MGI Automated Nucleic Acid Testing Equipment Arrived in Jiangsu

Three powerful instruments work together to achieve daily testing capacity up to 2 million samples

In the nation-wide combat against COVID-19, MGI's automation systems, including MGISP-NE384, MGISP-960 and MGISTP-7000, as the core equipment of the Huo-Yan lab, have played a key role in large-scale nucleic acid testing in Shijiazhuang, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan and more. MGISP-NE384 can extract and purify nucleic acid from 96/192/288/384 samples. As the first fully automated nucleic acid extractor in the market utilized on the front line of COVID-19 fight, one MGISP-NE384 unit can process 10,000 samples per day.

MGISP-NE384 High-throughput Automated Nucleic Acid Extractor

MGISTP-7000 can automatically complete barcode scanning, information verification and liquid transfer with a single-click. The lab technicians have zero contact with COVID-19 samples throughout the process, so they can work in a safe working environment. The system can transfer 192 samples from airtight sample tubes or plain tubes to 96-well microplates in 40 minutes. This automates the sample preparation, the most labor-intensive process, thus reduces the workload and infection risk for the lab technicians.

MGISTP-7000 High-Throughput Automated Sample Transfer Processing System

Notably, MGISP-960 high-throughput automated sample preparation system has supported more than 50 countries to date in the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The system can automatically complete the nucleic acid extraction and library preparation for sequencing.

MGISP-960 High Throughput Automated Sample Preparation System

Supported by MGI's high efficiency automation system, the Huo-Yan lab in Jiangsu, is capable of testing 2 million sample if 10 samples mixed in one tube for batch testing.

MGI genetic sequencers contribute to the virus genome sequencing for the COVID-19 surveillance and tracing in Jiangsu province

The genome sequencing of coronavirus plays a crucial role in the pandemic control and prevention. After positive cases confirmed in Nanjing, MGI's comprehensive and flexible genetic sequencer, DNBSEQ-G400* was put into use to help Jiangsu CDC complete the novel coronavirus genome sequencing of those first cases.

DNBSEQ-G400 genetic sequencer has assisted medical and health institutions in multiple cities in Guangdong and Shandong with the novel coronavirus genome sequencing and mutation research. Combined with ATOPlex, a massively parallel sequencing (MPS) platform featuring high specificity of amplification and low error rate that applies MGI proprietary ultra-high multiplex PCR-based enrichment technique in customized panel design, DNBSEQ-G400* can enrich the full-length viral genome in a single tube. With the unique dual barcode anti-crosstalk technology and DNBSEQTM sequencing technology, the full-length or near full-length genome sequencing of the virus can be obtained quickly, and only 1M reads are required to meet the full-length Viral genome coverage.

MGI DNBSEQ-G400 Genetic Sequencer* Assisted Jiangsu CDC with the Virus Genome Sequencing

Based on its proprietary DNBSEQ™ technology, MGI developed a full series of platforms, including DNBSEQ-Tx ultra-high throughput sequencers*, DNBSEQ-T7 high-throughput sequencers*, DNBSEQ-G400 medium-high throughput sequencers* and DNBSEQ-G50 medium throughput sequencers*, that can be applied to large population whole genome sequencing, tumor gene sequencing, metagenomic sequencing, and unknown pathogen microbial detection to accommodate different sequencing needs.

*Unless otherwise informed, all sequencers and sequencing reagents are not available in Germany, the USA, Spain, UK, Hong Kong, Sweden, and Belgium.
