Executive Vice President, MGI
Since joining BGI in 2014, Liu Jian has served as head of the system research and development department of BGI Research Institute, the director of instrument development, and the director and vice president of the MGI Instrument Development Center. He is currently the executive vice president of MGI, in charge of overall instrument technology and product development, production, quality and qualification, and information technology. During his tenure, he led the team to complete a series of domestic sequencers from project to market. He has applied for more than 30 patents related to the design and development of medical device equipment and is currently the director of the Guangdong Provincial Life Science Instrument and Equipment Engineering Technology Research Center. He received a master’s degree in Mechanical and Electronic Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology and a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation from the Harbin Institute of Technology.
