BGI was established in 1999 with participation in the original human genome project. Since then BGI has grown in to a global genomics company, with the mission of leveraging genomics technologies in order to improve human health and resolve key challenges in sustainable development. MGI Tech Co, Ltd., a fully-owned subsidiary of BGI Group has developed a modular research lab solution available to selected partners. It provides customized solutions for applications on Agroforestry research, Oncology & Diseases study, Environmental & Pathogenic microorganisms diagnosis, Forensic Medicine, Personal health, Reproductive health, Monogenic and Complex genetic diseases et al. There are 10 functional modules available in a standard lab, covering technologies across NGS, Mass Spec and Imaging for proposed applications: Reagent & Sample Preparation, Library Preparation, Hybridization & Capture, Library Amplification and QC, Sequencing, MGI EASYCELLTM Platform, Modular NGS Workstation, Mass Spec Preparation, Mass Spec and Imaging.
1．Reagent & Sample Preparation: Provide storage space and information input for reagent and sample in the NGS process.
2．Library Preparation: Provide comprehensive sequencing library preparation solutions for a wide variety of NGS methods, including whole-genome sequencing, whole exome sequencing, targeted DNA sequencing, whole-transcriptome sequencing, ChIP-seq, and more.
3．Hybridization & Capture: Whole exome sequencing is consisting of two steps: the first step is to select only the subset of DNA that encodes proteins. These regions are known as exons – humans have about 180,000 exons, constituting about 1% of the human genome, or approximately 30 million base pairs. The second step is to sequence the exonic DNA using any high-throughput DNA sequencing technology.
4．Library Amplification & QC: PCR amplification and quantitative analysis after library preparation.
5．Sequencing: The sequencing includes making DNBs, loading DNBs, sequencing and data analysis.
6．MGI EASYCELLTM Platform: MGI EASYCELLTM is an automatic circulating tumor cell (CTC) enrichment system based on label-free and microfluidics, that retrieves intact, live CTC from a patient's blood sample. The system could be used for cancer screening, diagnosis, staging, personalized medicine and treatment monitoring.
7．Modular NGS Workstation: The workstation integrates the whole NGS workflow, creating a fully automated solution from sample to report with just one step. MGIFLP will connect with more life science products and support applications in infectious disease, cancer, reproductive health and other fields of precision medicine.
8．Mass Spec Preparation: Provide sample preparation depending on sample type, experimental goals and analytical method used.
9．Mass Spec: Provide a system which has both qualitative and quantitative uses. These include identifying unknown compounds, determining the isotopic composition of elements in a molecule, and determining the structure of a compound by observing its fragmentation. Other uses include quantifying the amount of a compound in a sample or studying the fundamentals of gas phase ion chemistry (the chemistry of ions and neutrals in a vacuum).
10．Imaging: Gene is cause and Imaging is result, big data analysis of gene and image to explore the root cause of disease. We offer integration with Ultrasound, CT, MRI, NGS and redefines the precision medicine.
